Product Description
750 Watt maximum capacity heavy-duty continuous use transformer Converts 220/240 Volts down to 110/120 Volts One grounded outlet in front of unit (accepts 3 or 2 prong US and Euro plugs) Hard wired with a European Shucko plug also good for Asian outlets Built-in fuse protection Durable design with a heavy-duty cordWeight: 10 LbsDimensions(LxBxH): 7" X 5" X 4"Transformer Purchase Guide:Remember to leave at least a 100% slack for the transformer. For the TVs, the power surge margin is 5 times the wattage of the TV. Heating appliances, laser printers and power tools spike when you turn them on. For these products you need to buy a transformer that is at least 3 times the items capacity.

3 out of 5 stars Works fine but did arrive dented.   December 22, 2008
Works fine but when I took it out of the box the front was dented, I guess because it is rather heavy someone dropped it and therefore its easy to cause damage.

2 out of 5 stars Dead on arrival, poor workmanship   December 8, 2008

I bought this unit recently with the intention of giving it to someone oversea. The unit arrived with a large dented front (where the socket is), most likely due to inadequate packaging. Only loose foam was used and the unit would work it way down the bottom of the box in no time due to its huge weight and what happened during the entire journey was not hard to imagine.

So before taking it oversea, I though I should give it a good check. I set it to Down Convert mode from 240V to 120V which was the mode it was intended to be used. Then with an Ohm meter I check the input and out resistance. The input resistance was about 7 Ohms but the output resistance was open circuit, instead of about 3.5 Ohms, half of the input side. Next I checked the Protective Earth from I/P to O/P, and instead of getting less than 1 Ohm of resistance, I measured 33 Ohms.

I removed the four nuts to open both front and back cover, and immediately spotted a dangling wire which was not attached to anything. This turned out to be part of the output which explained why the O/P was open circuited. Most solder joints were not done right, they all used solder as glue to attach wire to terminal or to other wires, instead of putting the wire through the hole of the terminal first before soldering (in the case of wire to terminal); or twisting two wires together first before soldering them together. Also, the solder joints did look "dry" and off, some did not have enough solder. Whoever did the soldering job did not receive proper training or did not have good equipment to do the job.

The Protective earths from the I/P to the O/P relied on the long screw to connect them together. The screw had low resistance alright, but the lug that loop through the screw did not make direct and good contact to the screw, partly due to the glue that was used as insulation on the lamination of the iron core. The glue somehow hold the lug mid way and stop it from making contact to the screw.

On the plus side, the winding looked solid with adequate glue applied to them as well as the lamination core.

5 out of 5 stars Just what I needed...   October 15, 2008
I had a CD player from Europe that I was loathe to throw out and unlike the simple converter from "Wally World" this did the trick. It's a bit heavy for my wife with sharp edges, so mind the kids and don't drop it on your foot (or a wood floor). Other than that, for small appliances, this is dead on, a great product.

4 out of 5 stars Working as expected till now..   September 29, 2008
I'm using this with an appliance that runs on 220V and that needs a 550W of energy. Haven't found anything wrong till now.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent helper!   July 9, 2008
I was able to use my 220V gadget in this 110V country and I loved it, such a nice helper!
